How Do You Listen To A Podcast?

Podcasts are a popular way to listen to user created content that can range from shows that resemble talk radio programs to indie music shows. Podcasts, as a form of broadcasting, are relatively new, only being fully recognized since 2004. However, since then, their popularity has spread rapidly over the internet.

There is truly a Podcast for everyone, so finding one to suit your likes will not be hard. There are several methods of finding a Podcast that you want to listen to, from search engines to sites specifically designed to catalog different Podcasts.

Of course, after you find a Podcast, you’ll need to know one thing: how do you go about listening to it?

Podcasts are able to be downloaded to your computer or to your MP3 Player, and despite the similarity in name, you do not have to have an iPod to listen to a Podcast.

When you choose which Podcast you want to listen to, you will have to subscribe to it. This is done by clicking either the RSS Feed or the XML button, both of which can be found on the web tool bar. This will let your audio device such as iTunes or Quicktime know where the Podcast’s feed is so it can download the MP3 files. By subscribing to a Podcast, you will be able to keep up to date with any new Podcasts that are put out by the author. Then it is just a simple matter of listening to the Podcasts. Different programs will require different steps to listening to Podcasts, but generally you will find where the MP3 files are stored and click “Play”.

If you want to listen to Podcasts on your MP3 player, all you have to do is transfer the files to the player.
